ABSTRACT
This chapter serves to decipher the key notions covered in the book by unpacking for the reader the conceptions of gender, disability, disadvantage and rurality. By locating these concepts in the context of an African university, the chapter will serve as a radar for readers to navigate through the ten chapters contained in this volume.
