ABSTRACT

Why would an educator consider using AIM2Flourish as an assignment? This chapter provides an overview of this experiential learning tool in the elective course, “Responsible Business and Sustainable Development.” Since 2016, the course is offered annually at the HSE University in Moscow for the students enrolled in the Graduate School of Business. The major course objective is to trigger a transformation in students’ mindsets towards accepting a sustainable and responsible way of doing business as a new norm. To reach this objective, students are inspired and empowered through an outside-the-classroom activity. Students are asked to identify and interview a responsible leader of a sustainable business, and upload the story on the AIM2Flourish platform. Students work in a multi-cultural team setting of Russian and international students in order to write a story about a sustainable business innovation that their “hero” implements – an innovation that contributes (sometimes unintentionally) to one or several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This chapter features selected students’ reflections on their AIM2Flourish stories and their experiences with the course. The author concludes by showing the power of this experiential learning activity in cultivating a sustainability mindset that future leaders need to develop to enable the transition to a better world.
