ABSTRACT

Over the past decades, the interest in emotions and their management has increased in management research and the popular press. While teaching emotional intelligence has often focused on its conceptual parts, this chapter suggests how contemplative exercises might be used to provide students with a subjective and embodied experience of the phenomenon. An exercised inspired by mindfulness and Nonviolent communication is introduced with step-by-step instructions as well as reflections from students who have participated in the exercise as part of a course in Global Challenges within a Bachelor of Science program in Business and Economics.
