ABSTRACT

Migrant workers are an important and integral part of Singapore’s modern infrastructural development. Over a million of current migrant worker populations are involved in various industrial sectors and housed mainly in dormitories. The large migrant worker community faced unique experiences during the 2020 Covid-19 national lockdown. This chapter presents Singapore’s case and uses secondary data to reflect and synthesize the role of communication and communication strategies employed by several entities, such as the government ministries, NGOs, community groups, and the migrant workers during the pandemic. Key lessons for both health and crisis communication are discussed.
