ABSTRACT

Guided by the conceptual frameworks of “networked individualism” and “personal communication systems”, this chapter provides insights from a pilot project in the United States using a mapping method for effective health intervention design. Details of our immersive fieldwork and formative research are provided. Contextual insights are obtained regarding young female refugees’ social networks, communicational channels, and technology use. Recommended strategies and resources are provided regarding human-centered design and ethical practice in digital health.
