ABSTRACT

An important task for an lively citizenry is the inclusion of new groups who were formerly marginalized, such as people with learning disabilities. They often have the formal status as citizens yet are disenfranchised and precluded from enacting their substantive citizenship rights. Philosopher Nancy Fraser argues that these inequities stem from three axes of injustice, related to the economic, cultural, and representational sphere. This chapter highlights the voices of actors and instructors of UNIKT theatre in Norway, reflecting their lived experiences within the theatre, described as metaphorical journeys and furthermore, the possibilities of literal travelling. In their journeys, they engage with transformative strategies which may subvert the axes of injustice and establish their citizenship status and practice a new.
