ABSTRACT

The article describes the difficulties of the author who has corpo diferenciado [differentiated body] – a term he created in cooperation with Dr Nara Salles to reflect his corporeal experience – due to a degenerative disease called progressive spinal amyotrophy, which makes him dependent on assistance to perform basic daily activities. The author explains his academic-artistic formation, which made him travel to distant Brazilian states to work on his master’s, doctoral, and post-doctoral degrees in performing arts at the most renowned Brazilian universities. Furthermore, he provides insight into his performances (DES)VITRUVIANDO, Sanguis and Reliquiarium experientiis, relating his own work to the theories of Antonin Artaud and the life and art of Frida Kahlo.
