ABSTRACT

By analysing the details and context of two editions of the performance The Apartment. Conversations – in its original setting in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and touring to Dresden, Germany – the article introduces the reader to one of the most distinctive inclusive theatre groups in Russia between 2010 and 2020. Basing her arguments on the theory of performativity by Erika Fischer-Lichte, the author suggests considering the performance’s tour as a set of strategies to recreate the specific materiality of the theatrical event in a new context, shifting from a space where neurodiverse artists set the rules to a space for encounters between equals.
