ABSTRACT

In 2011, Louise von Euler Bjurholm and Henrik Agger began the artistic research project entitled “Extreme Symbiosis” to reflect on their long-standing artistic practice as pair acrobats, which has since been turned into a documentary performance as well as a book. Louise and Henrik are acrobats from Stockholm, who were also educated at the Moscow State School of Circus. They have worked and lived together since 2001. Louise is also a graduate of the University of Dance and Circus in Stockholm with an MA specializing in choreography and circus. Henrik is one of the original artists of Cirkus Cirkör, which began in 1995. They have worked with traditional circuses like the Russian State Circus, but mostly in contemporary circus contexts. They have spent the last few years touring the world with Cirkus Cirkör’s performance “Wear it like a crown.” In this contribution, they share their lives with us, both onstage and off, as well as the nature of their interaction during a performance and while practicing.
