ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book sets out the key challenges for media and communication researchers in the COVID-19 pandemic. It focuses on challenges faced by media and communication researchers in the pandemic. The book aims to contextualise the current media ecosystem and the formulas of intervention created by institutions in order to propose a model of effective intervention in the case of the development of mass emergency situations. It also focuses on the modification of product offers as a challenge in times of plague and survival. The book explores ways of collecting qualitative data during the COVID-19 pandemic, presents the participants’ struggles during the pandemic and reveals their understanding of their new social context. It sheds light on the new challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on people’s traditional and digital media use at the time of physical distancing.
