ABSTRACT

A school psychologist is a well-rounded professional who works collaboratively with a variety of qualified individuals and coordinated teams to ensure that the needs of all students are being met. School psychologists engage in consultation with parents and direct services with specific students to ensure that students are making adequate progress and that their needs are being met. School psychologists are also in the unique position to advocate for families according to state and federal law. The school psychologist utilizes these skills when communicating with the team members and assists in the process of developing a collaborative relationship between parents and teachers. The school psychologist will ask the student's teacher about the current curriculum and how it is delivered. The school psychologist will also have ongoing communication with the student's parents.
