ABSTRACT

The special education teacher will be the primary point of contact for information about the student. The special education teacher wears many hats, including case manager, collaborator, instructor, supporter, and communicator. The special education teacher also manages the student's evaluation and reevaluations. Evaluations are conducted every 3 years to determine if the student remains eligible to receive special education services. The special education teacher should stay in frequent contact with any regular education teachers providing instruction to a student on his or her caseload. The regular education teacher needs to understand his role in planning for the educational success of a student. The special education teacher also needs to stay in contact with parents. A special education teacher provides support and instruction to students with disabilities. The special education teacher can also help differentiate instruction for students.
