ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a definition and orientation to the key elements of professional learning: relevance, support, continuity, and visibility. The factors that both inhibit and facilitate professional learning are outlined in a continuum of practice. This continuum includes Informal, Formal, and Hybrid technological and in-person applications for professional learning. A description and evaluation of professional learning as they relate to the NAGC professional standards underscores the discussions and examples provided in this chapter.
