ABSTRACT

Grounded in theory and evidence-based research, the 2019 NAGC Pre-K–Grade 12 Gifted Programming Standards provide an important base for all educational efforts on behalf of students with gifts and talents at all ages and stages of development. These standards can be used to identify and document gaps in programs and services and provide direction for the development of action plans for districts and schools. This chapter introduces a Self-Study tool and outlines six ways in which state department personnel, gifted education program coordinators, and classroom teachers can use the 2019 NAGC Pre-K–Grade 12 Gifted Programming Standards to make critical decisions related to program development and improvement.
