ABSTRACT
An eccentric looking man, with an incredibly long scarf dragging on the ground, a crazy curly mane, and a gentlemanly English accent appeared with a grin of excitement out of a blue police box. He would show up to save the day, defeating the terrifying monsters again and again, using only his creativity, intuition, and his sonic screwdriver. Schools with so many standardized tests, are being designed not to engage or to encourage a creative spirit but to commodify the students’ progress. A different school, on the brink of being shut down, in Corona, Queens, is home to overstressed teachers who are afraid of losing their jobs. Many of the kids come to school underfed and under threat of gang and/or domestic violence.
