ABSTRACT

This chapter suggests strong curriculum development, not only in the areas of visual art, music, drama, and movement, but in the cross-curricular connections that so readily allow for the integration of all art forms. School leaders have the opportunity to shape much about the curriculum of the local school, even in the midst of the heavy standardization of our time. School leaders will want to creatively provide that time for teachers through release time so that fresh bodies and minds are given to this important task. School leaders can also do much to support the curriculum within the disciplines of the arts. Guided practice with intuitive work through the arts allows staff members to explore this way of thinking and working within a safe space. Supported by a foundation of regular excursions into the imagination, teachers, students, and administrators can be guided into experiences with organic creativity.
