ABSTRACT

This chapter has been designed to help teachers identify the components of teaching through a talent development lens so that they can select appropriate curriculum or modify curriculum that they are already using, incorporating what is important for developing talent in an area. Educators must be able to justify curricular decisions to administrators and parents, so the chapter begins with a focus on key principles of teaching through a talent development lens, along with evidence surrounding the importance of these principles. Teachers using a talent development lens to design lessons and curriculum anchor their instructional practices in key principles that relate back to this central goal of investment in their students with a focus on individual strength development. Teachers who teach through a talent development lens understand the critical role that exposure and access play in talent acquisition, especially for students who have not had previous opportunity.
