ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the hybridization of artistic abilities and digital technology. In order to prepare artistically gifted students for postsecondary settings, teachers must create a robust digital ecosystem that weaves together digital technologies, art, and career readiness. Even though many artistically gifted students might not pursue a career in a technology-specific field, a majority of jobs in contemporary and future economies seek employees capable of using digital technologies for creative-productive purposes. There are several other digital art galleries that can be found through an Internet search. One popular e-marketplace example is Etsy, where artists can sell crafts, clothing, art, or photography. Another example is ArtFire, which serves as an e-marketplace for those interested in selling their works of art. Each of these sites charges a fee for posting items and collects a percentage at the point of sale. Regardless of the site used, Internet safety precautions must always be considered.
