ABSTRACT

Teachers and counselors are often viewed as completely separate entities within the school. Both groups of educators impact the lives of students daily by providing services, instruction, and guidance to students within the same building. Gifted children and more specifically, multicultural gifted children, have unique characteristics and challenges that should be addressed by everyone in the school building, school counselors and teachers in particular. It is critical that educators be knowledgeable about the challenges faced by multiculturally gifted students. In addition to becoming aware and multiculturally competent, educators must be advocates for multicultural gifted students. Teachers and school counselors play an integral role in the lives of culturally diverse gifted students.
