ABSTRACT

Diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. To address the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) gifted learners, the authors suggest to choose curriculum materials that include characters, examples, and situations related to the cultures of CLD students in the classroom. It is important for students to see themselves reflected in the materials used in the gifted education program. It is as important to represent the population we are teaching as it is to expose students to other cultures and lives outside of their environment. Most children look to their teachers for help in opening doors and exploring ideas in their lives.
