ABSTRACT

Educational change involves an awareness of how the process of change works. Educational change is a process that involves motivating and collaborating with people to conduct practice in ways that align with research-based evidence. It promotes a more scientific approach to teaching and learning that provides a more positive outcome for learners, the center of the educational enterprise. A top-down approach might include changes in school district policy, allowing acceleration within and across schools and the development of a continuous Pre-K-12 curriculum. Coordinators of gifted programs use it to assess resource teachers and other teaching personnel who work with gifted students to ascertain frequency and effectiveness in the use of core approaches, tied to the teacher education standards. Implementing and assessing the new teacher education standards is a bold undertaking, requiring the collaboration of many players and the leadership of a few in each educational setting targeted, whether it be a school, a district, or a state.
