ABSTRACT

Flash fiction is concise and shorter than the kind of literature produced earlier and can be consumed by millennials on the go. The internet, including online platforms, blogs, social media, is home to flash fiction where each piece is preferably not more than a hundred words and as small as a mere six words, following in the footsteps of Hemingway’s micro tale. The galloping success of the flash fiction platforms in India reveals the immense potential of the form. India today has the largest youth population in the world which is also aspirational and quick to learn and experiment. Flash fiction is on a continuous rise and is staring us in the face wherever one goes. An advertisement on the bus also falls under the pigeonhole of flash fiction. Micro or flash fiction is an inevitable reality of the postmodern world where everyone is looking for memorable phrases to catch the attention of the onlooker.
