ABSTRACT

The chapter provides a cross-sectional exposé of the key highlights in the book by attending to the epistemological question: What is the nature of knowledge in the neoliberal era in African universities? Whose knowledge matters? The chapter highlights issues of university world-class mantra, social justice, authoritarianism and neoliberalism, commodification and marketisation of knowledge, higher education transformation, university-industry partnership, university identity and globalisation, and the place of indigenous knowledge systems.
