ABSTRACT

Universities, colleges, and institutions of higher learning are places where advanced, sometimes radical thinking, can occur. These same institutions are founded on colonial systems that reinforce oppression as well as blatant and latent forms of racism and discrimination. Many institutions have formed Equity and Diversity committees, anti-Black racism networks, etc.; however, microaggressions, lateral violence, and incivility continue to be perpetuated as real systemic changes have not taken place.
