ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a co-constructed narrative of the experiences of four teacher educators during the COVID-19 pandemic. The authors open with a consideration of empathy and pedagogical connection in teacher education before describing the co-construction of their narrative. They then address altered understandings of care and caring, how they engaged in care during the pandemic, how care can be approached in preparation for the rebuilt K-12 classroom, and how care can be navigated in teacher education post-COVID. The authors conclude by calling for the cultivation of a culture of care in teacher education—an endeavor that is necessarily collaborative and intentional.
