ABSTRACT

Nursing science examines, though not exclusively, the delivery of care, phenomena that impact care delivery, and the responses of individuals and communities navigating caring processes. Nurses thrive in interdisciplinary teams. They are concerned with everything from how medications impact an individual's life to how ecological changes impact communities' health. Citizen Science includes a strong focus on democratizing science and engaging the community. It has made access to science and research as simple as being curious, observant, and having access to the internet. Implementing Citizen Science into how nurses ask and answer questions can ignite innovative and creative solutions for the communities they serve. This essay seeks to examine the potential that nurses' utilization of citizen science has to refresh and reimagine how we approach nursing as a practice and science. Nurses partnering with communities and other disciplines via citizen science can forge valuable relationships, novel understandings, and prolific possibilities.
