ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book considers domestic responses to the Covid-19 pandemic for the principal states in South Asia. It examines how the pandemic is affecting regional engagement. The book examines how the Covid-19 pandemic is affecting India’s quest for status. It considers how the Sri Lanka government has responded to the Covid-19 pandemic. The book examines how the state of Nepal has responded to the Covid-19 pandemic. It takes the human dimension of pandemic-related suffering into account by considering the effects on India’s diaspora working in the Gulf states. The book examines how India’s engagement with global governance has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. It concludes by considering whether the pandemic will spur future cooperation between the states of South Asia.
