ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to explore the role of learning organizations as promoters of sports coach development, situating apprenticeship in the authentic learning environment and the role of the coach developer to unlock the learning potential of sports settings, creating deliberate learning strategies. The renewal of the apprenticeship concept can revitalize the coaches' development initiatives, placing the training proposals in a close relationship with the workplace environment. It explores the role of learning organizations as promoters of coach development, based on the discussion of the role of the coach developer in the articulation of andragogy principles with the apprenticeships' work-learning integrative proposal. Apprenticeships are explored in coach education due to the high value the coaches attribute to learning in the workplace and with more experienced colleagues. The effective insertion of the coach developer in the workplace is, in fact, complex.
