ABSTRACT

The introduction emphasises the need for professionals from mental health and psychoeducational fields, who work with children, adolescents, and families, to expand their knowledge and nurture their personal awareness in a complex and dynamic world with a growing number of emerging needs and conditions. The definitions of Play Therapy, Therapeutic Powers of Play, and Expressive Arts Therapy are provided. Throughout the pages, the reader starts to understand how the transformative and healing power of play and expressive arts is applied in various cultural contexts and settings, inside and outside the playroom, live and remote. The introduction ends with the message from the author wishing that each chapter will stay with the reader long after the book has been closed, that the words read will turn into one or more actions allowing the reader to become even more aware of his value as an agent of change and his practice to become even more effective.
