ABSTRACT

To create smart professionals in the field of Islamic economics and finance, it is essential to adapt a hybrid intellectual approach in developing pedagogical methodologies in teaching Islamic economics. The aim of this chapter is to provide introductory guidance and a pedagogical framework for adoption by Islamic economics educators. This will help the learner and the learned to appreciate the material foundation of Islam in contrast to materialism. Students will learn to understand the nature of the positivist, Cartesian, mathematical formalism, and its impact upon global economies and how these can be contrasted with the epistemological foundations of Islamic thought and its focus upon welfare. The suggested approach presented in this chapter seeks to ensure that students are able to comprehend, critically analyze, and apply their knowledge with regards to Islamic economics in the real world.
