ABSTRACT

This study aims to identify the effectiveness of the e-learning approach in conducting the professional shariah audit training program during COVID-19. It also seeks to examine the impact of the professional shariah training program on employability prospects during COVID-19. Questionnaires were administered to 296 participants who were enrolled in the professional shariah audit training program via e-learning during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020. Findings show that despite the COVID-19 outbreak, participants are able to master all six modules covered in the professional shariah audit training program via an e-learning approach. This includes: (1) strengthening the fundamental knowledge; (2) empowering the knowledge understanding, (3) obtaining the value added; (4) gaining the in-depth knowledge; and (5) acquiring the technical skills. In terms of employability prospects, the finding shows that despite economic slowdown due to COVID-19, participants who enrolled the professional shariah audit training program still have good employability prospects based on their employment status, industry placement, job position, and starting salary offered within 6 months after the training program. This study is believed to be among the pioneering studies of the effectiveness of the e-learning approach in conducting the professional shariah audit training program during COVID-19 and the impact of the professional shariah audit training program on employability prospects during COVID-19.
