ABSTRACT

This chapter attempts to introduce a dialogic approach to intercultural conflict management. It argues that the Confucian ethics of “being for both self and other” goes beyond the modern ethics of “being for self” as well as the postmodern ethics of “being for other”, which facilitates intercultural dialogue. The dialogic approach embedded in Confucian ethics demonstrates a promise to develop a third culture that may serve as an ideal ground for the emergence and growth of co-humanity and harmonious relationships between people from different cultures.
