ABSTRACT

Town-and-gown partnerships are a critical and mutually beneficial way to grow awareness about planning education and careers among youth and the community. This chapter highlights the collaborative work of three organizations—a graduate planning-degree program, a professional-planning association, and a planning agency—in promoting awareness about planning as a career. Through the Future Leaders in Planning (FLiP) youth summer camp and the Mentor a Planning Student (MAPS) graduate student-mentorship program, this chapter provides information about each program’s objectives, structure, and impacts, as well as highlighting new programs that grew out of these programs.
