ABSTRACT

This chapter contributes to existing literature by discussing how spatial-planning education awareness can be enhanced in sub-Saharan Africa based on observations from Namibia. It avers that networking among planners, public engagement, marketing of planning programs, and accreditation by national or international experts are pivotal. The involvement of current students in community-based projects and impacts of planners on local development are also crucial. Finally, the internationalization of Namibian planning education will enhance its cross-border appeal. Overall, the chapter articulates the creation of planning-education awareness as a multifaceted endeavor comprising diverse actors, including academia, planning professionals, communities, and non-governmental organizations.
