ABSTRACT

In this chapter, Maria Prats considers how “donal-love” can be present at work through the motivation of our actions, specifically through our altruistic or transcendent motivations. Donal-love is a selfless love that leads us to act looking for the good of others.

The chapter is organized as follows: first, we center our attention on the conceptualization of altruistic motives and their contextualization in the prosocial motives and the human motivational structure, respectively. Second, we consider the relationship between love and meaning at work. Third, we analyze how altruistic motives affect organizations in their leadership and organizational citizenship behaviors.
