ABSTRACT

As global higher education still lacks robust information on student learning, information from a large international collaboration on student engagement has an important role to play. This book has presented a suite of theoretical and empirical contributions, including national and institutional case studies, with the overarching objective of taking stock of major contemporary contributions and reaching closer to distilling a useful aggregation of aligned research and policy initiatives. This final chapter recaps key messages from each of the chapters and synthesises these into future steps for the field of student engagement research and its broader position within and contribution to higher education. It articulates nine forward-looking indicators of education engagement.
