ABSTRACT

In the past decade, Korea’s higher education has experienced a huge paradigm shift owing to dramatic environmental changes. The new trend adopts student-oriented education, student engagement, and student success as major themes. This chapter serves a dual purpose. First, it reviews existing literature being mindful of the research topics that were dealt with and the methods they used. The chapter also summarizes the results and implications that were suggested. Second, it delves into the historical development of Korea-National Survey of Student Engagement (K-NSSE) and the current issues. The study also suggests practical and theoretical contributions of the K-NSSE system in improving the quality of education and research development in the area of student engagement.
