ABSTRACT

All the nationalized boards have set up public relations departments ranging in character according to the nature of the industry or service. The accidental circumstance that full-scale public relations in this country developed first in Government departments, and particularly in time of war, had an unfortunate result. The remoteness of the nationalized industries from public control makes it even more important for them to describe and explain their policies and activities to the public. The nationalized industries are expected to take a prominent part in these exhibitions, whether on a national, regional, or local basis, and this means that they must have a competent seed on of the public relations department available to meet all requirements. Working in collaboration, the public relations department and the consumers' council can achieve a first rate service to the public. These, then, are the functions of the public relations department of the nationalized industries.
