ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of non-standard forms of employment used in the digital economy in the European Union. The chapter introduces the classification employed by the International Labour Organization (ILO). Using the most recent data from Eurostat, it provides an overview of the prevalence of non-standard employment in the Member States. It also describes workplace trends across the European Union. The chapter concludes with a brief discussion of selected advantages and disadvantages of non-standard employment for both employees and employers.
