ABSTRACT

Ongoing digital transformation has profound implications for society and the economy. The introduction of digital technologies into business operations creates various opportunities and poses several challenges. Both positive and negative impacts have been discussed in the economics literature. The chapter presents a systematic review of the subject literature on digital transformation. Based on previous economic and business research, it synthesises the current evidence on the impact of digital transformation on businesses across various industries. The review examines how digital transformation disrupts traditional business models, and how innovative business opportunities impact the labour market. PRISMA protocols are applied for systematic reviews, and MAXQDA software is used to quantify the relations found in prior papers indexed in two major scientific databases: Scopus and Web of Science.
