ABSTRACT

Orla Hazra considers the social reference points that have come to dominate and manage global and regional societies today. She identifies Cartesian dualism as a system that excludes other, more nuanced worldviews, principally, those of interdisciplinary science, women, tribal societies, and spiritual and creative thought. She discusses ways out of this limitation through a variety of paradigms, such as Ignatian Pedagogy and Big History. In addition, Dr. Hazra provides examples of how these have been put into practice in school systems.
