ABSTRACT

In recent years, there has been an increasing level of attention paid to the nature of special educational needs within the delivery of Physical Education, and this area is explored in some depth in this chapter. The evolving perception of the term ‘inclusion’ is considered and its interconnected links to ‘special educational needs’ and how and where ‘disability’ can occur within and beyond common notions of impairment. The need for a range of ‘core learning’ opportunities for all children and young people is highlighted, who are considered as being on the broad spectrum of special educational need.
