ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines the overview of the second edition. Since the first edition became a staple of anyone studying primary Physical Education, three distinct changes have coloured the primary Physical Education landscape, specifically: Government funding and the primary Physical Education and Sport Premium, a change in curriculum and changes to initial teacher training and education. Against this backdrop and another decade on, while the core principles underpinning the first text remain, the original contributors have continued to gain momentum and have become specialists within the 17 chapter areas in which they have written. In their wake, other writers have risen to prominence, and it is to the larger collective that the challenge of delivering the second edition has fallen.
