ABSTRACT

The chapter presents the main aim and target readership of the book. It provides a brief overview of the main issues addressed in the volume, including the development of the research and conceptualisation of ELF and the challenges faced when integrating ELF into the ELT classroom. In reference to the various chapters and the practical suggestions comprising them, the Conclusion sums up the ways and domains in which ELF-oriented post-normative approaches can be realised in the practice of English language teaching. The chapter stresses the complementary nature of ELF-aware and ELF-informed approaches and the importance of teacher agency and decision making.
