ABSTRACT

This chapter brings together several training components previously discussed throughout the book and helps the reader to better understand how to best organize all these components which lead to a successful alpine ski racing training program. Periodization theory is broken down at a scientific level as well as some of the most common methods within it. Nuanced topics such as “peaking” and “tapering” are not only defined but explicitly detailed on how to best approach each individually. Lastly, the reader is exposed to a variety of ways in which they can organize training both on snow and off in a manner that is complimentary towards their overarching goals depending on the phase or time of year.
