ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book is both for those interested in providing psychotherapy and counselling for young adults, and those who wish to bring a therapeutic sensibility to working with this client group. It promotes and highlights the importance of clients ‘especially young adults’ in finding their own language (words) without the presence of the other. The book does so by presenting an imaginary phenomenology of working with a young adult”. It is not only for psychotherapists but offers pointers the kinds of arguments that can inform what needs to rapidly become a central concern of politicians and policymakers.
