ABSTRACT

This chapter harkens back to the authors’ personal experiences developing their ideas for using LEGO® therapeutically – i.e., Seriously Therapeutic Play with LEGO® (STP). Snapshots of a range of “cases” – from individual therapy to group therapy (both virtual and in-person) to families and parent consultations to supervision and current implementations of the methodology – are detailed. Quotes and pictorial examples from work with participants express not only the 3-D nature of the bricks but also the dynamism of the approach, which allows facilitators and participants to see what “jumps out,” “what’s now there that wasn’t there before,” and “what your hands have expressed that your words didn’t.”
