ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of the Mineral Resources module. In this module, students will investigate the impact and utility mineral resources have on society. Students will investigate the location and use of various mineral resources, explain why they are important to society, and critically evaluate both qualitative and quantitative data about mineral resources. The chapter describes how students will build knowledge to accomplish the final design challenge, designing a website for a global demand on a particular mineral. The chapter explains how students will use a national mineral database, conduct investigations on the production, consumption and utilization of a selected mineral, discuss societal impacts from mineral extraction, and write opinion papers on solutions for extraction or supply chain problems.
