ABSTRACT
This chapter explores, from the perspective of a transgender psychoanalyst, how patriarchal norms and tactics for policing and controlling the gender binary can transmute into a threat of cancelation within the trans community. This threat restricts and punishes gender-nonconforming patients as they work toward establishing trans and non-binary identities.
