ABSTRACT

Since 1994, the Zapatistas have been organizing national and international events in San Cristóbal Las Casas, with special guests and a wide variety of participants. In 2009 they organized the Festival of Dignified Rage, at a time in which all kind of aggressions against them and against many Indigenous peoples, defenders of human rights, and many other people were intensified. The rage was pretty general. The festival was clearly an attempt to transform it into a militant force of transformation. The chapter is based in GE intervention in the festival, to present reflections on the nature of the State, within the nation-state, the need to dismantle it, the alternatives, and the art of rebelling.
